How Great Thou Art

(The monterey pine kissed by the morning sun outside my bedroom)

I love this time of year because the days get longer and longer.

By 5:00 darkness has started to fade and a new day begins to emerge.

It is too hard to stay prone in bed
I have much to do.
So, these past couple of days
I've headed out into my garden
instead of motoring to the gym.

The mornings have been gorgeous with
singing birds, a gentle breeze flowing through the trees,
a delicious fragrance permeating the air, and
sparkling flowers and bushes all freshly bathed after a night's rain.

My garden is my heaven on earth,
a place of solitude,
af peace, of meditation, and of safety.

This morning, I found myself singing (to myself)
one of my most favorite hymns we sing at church,

"How Great Thou Art"

O Lord my god, When I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

(Chorus):
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, To Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

When through the woods, and forest glades I wander,

And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees.
When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur
And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.

(Chorus)

And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.

(Chorus)

When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration,
and then proclaim: "my God, how great Thou art!"

It was all that I could do to keep myself from shouting upward
(lest I wake the sleeping fam/neighbors snoozing inside):

"HOW GREAT THOU ART"
