Swimming When It's Cold

I woke up at 6 this morning to let our ("no name") cat out, then quickly returned to bed to snuggle underneath my toasty, warm, down comforter. I subsequently proceeded to spend the next 40 minutes debating with myself whether to go, or not to go, to the Y to swim. It was mighty cold outside, my neighbor's roof had frost clinging to the shingles and just the thought of walking from the locker room to the pool deck had me shivering under the sheets.

Well, all of a sudden, somehow, I got the gumption to throw off the covers, swing my legs to the floor, pull on my suit, grab my keys and motor to the Y.

I am so glad I did--for I had my own lane the entire workout, the water temperature was perfect, swam a 1500 in record time (for me), and felt terrific all day.

So if you ever think you can't do something, rethink it, most likely, you really can.

Great for you KAREN! It is awfully hard when it is cold outside. Remember all our swimmer friends swimming yearound over at Santa Clara pool. Keep it up
