Can you feel it in the air?
Can you smell it too?
Can you believe the first day of school is already here...

or will come shortly?
How can that be? We are still in the middle of August!
what happened to school starting the day after Labor Day?)

Somehow, the summer of 2010 slipped on by...
(what summer? did you feel any hot, sizzling days?)
Well, I've been dusting off the memories...
taking a rag to those tradition cobwebs of years gone by...
and reflecting upon that first day of school:
Do you...
Remember that new clothes smell...
and picking out the outfit the night before?
Remember going out the front door...
and hearing what sounded like "Whahoo!!" coming from the kitchen?
Remember buying new binders, paper, pens, pencils, lunch pails and backpacks...
even though you have perfectly good ones in your closet?
some of which you hadn't seen since the last day of school in June?
Remember your mother snapping embarrassing photos
Remember your mother snapping embarrassing photos
in front of the school sign..
the one you will sit at for the next 9 months?
oh me, oh my...
time sure does fly.
What do you remember of that first day of school?

I agree. I NEVER started school before Labor Day. Why does everyone start school in early/mid-August now? I don't get it.
September=School
Hence the capital "S"
But anyway, we would always lay out our first day outfit on the floor in the shape of a person. :) Right Mom?
Oh these pictures made me both happy and sad! Where did the time go?? And how old have I become that I'm actually saying "Where did the time go?"!(Will Adeline let you take pictures of her first day at Georgetown?)
And Natalie...laying out the outfit on the floor in the shape of a person...LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh I love it!
Love, Gwen
I took my oldest to his first day of middle school and my youngest to kindergarten yesterday! And I made my kids pose for pictures... you betcha!!
My most fun is going school shopping with my kids! The first day for the Price kids was very memorable down to the UNDERWEAR. It was always Carters underwear. My kids know that I take huge sniffs of Carters underwear (new of course) for that fond memory. One thing I miss is the new lunchpail smell with a thermos. We never really got them and I envied those that had them. We always went home for lunch usually. I have one more year of public school with Sam. The very last Price grandchild in Public system. Hurray...he is back in class.
I can't believe that you have lived in the home for so many years...gosh time sure flies. A lot of fond history there.
