My Resurrected Ride

Check out my new, uh, I mean...resurrected ride.  I purchased this bike, named "Yosemite", over twenty years ago from Costco.  It is very heavy and clunky and really meant for mountain riding... but it did do the trick when we, as a family, would go on bike rides together. The kids grew up and wanted to drive cars instead of ride bikes so eventually my bike  was relegated to hanging upside down from the hooks in the garage.

A few years ago, I wanted to toss the bike and get a cool vintage Schwinn bike. My sister gave me a willow basket, a state of the art helmet and some fringe for my handlebars for my birthday .  For some reason, I just never got around to purchasing that vintage bike .

I think the pink tassels give my bike an added touch, don't you?

While working on cleaning the garage, my handy-dandy, bike-loving son-in-law saw the  bike and offered to spruce it up for me.He pumped up the tires, oiled the chain, shined the rims, and attached the basket,  my new lock, and "spider" LED light.

I've been trying to be more green in my life so I rode it to work the other day.  I really should ride it every day since the distance from my front door to my office door is less than one half mile.  What a joy to feel the fresh air hit my face and smell the freshly cut grass as I journeyed to and from work.  I couldn't help but reflect on all that I missed sitting inside my gas guzzling car.

Love reviving what I have and saving $$$.  What do you think?

I think that's great. I miss riding bikes like we did so much in Livermore. There are too many hills around here (excuse) There is nothing like riding a bike to the store and putting your stuff into the basket.
Make sure you watch Pee Wee Herman movie. We just watched it last month and laughed the whole way through it.

I'm glad you enjoy the bike. I've enjoyed riding my bike to work once or twice per week for the last two months (20 miles each way is something I can't do every day). Biking to work has a lot of advantages: you bypass traffic, get a workout, and can enjoy the journey.

On an unrelated note, that last closeup is a really sharp picture!
