Scary Morning

Had a bit of a scare this morning when I received a call from Mrs. Shoe

Mr. Shoe had crashed his plane

Yes, the plane he purchased on Friday

That is the bad part

The good part is

He walked away without a scratch...

Or a bump....

Or a scrape

We are all so grateful he is safe

Miraculous is today's word

Dahlia Garden San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers

Made a quick visit to Golden Gate Park on Saturday mainly to view these incredibly prolific dahlias. I've never seen dahlias this gorgeous before. If you have a chance, go check them out....soon...because they are at their peak..I promise you will not be disappointed.

Oh, by the way, those are people's heads poking up on right side of the photo...just gives you an idea how big these plants are!

No need to travel very far

For all it takes is ten minutes in the car

Check what I picked up at an estate sale in Los Altos today

A true blue fruit picking ladder

And some wooden lugs for fruit

The ladder has a split leg

So I will re-purpose it

To hang my hose

Some buckets

And some potted plants

As for the wooden lugs

Not sure yet...

Was busy last weekend painting the Shoe's kitchen...will (hopefully) finish it up tomorrow and show some pics. Nothing finer than a fresh coat of paint...so fresh and clean. And Mrs. Shoe is one very happy camper.

Celebration

Been married to the love of my life

One year shy of three decades

So we celebrated

By driving up the coast to San Francisco

On a most spectacular day

Picked up some scrumptious home grown honey

From the beekeeper who was selling it on the side of the road

Went to the Dutch painting exhibit at the Legion of Honor

And capped it all off by having dinner

At a most deelish Burmese restaurant on Clement

Life doesn't get much better than this

They're Off!

The newlyweds are headed east

To the Atlantic side of the country

A tear or two dropped

Not so much in sadness

But knowing a new chapter has begun

The Unveiling

With DZ's help

My new potting bench is finished...complete... and ready to use

It certainly feels good to reuse and recycle objects that previously served a different purpose

Sunday Dinner

Each Sunday I try to have a nice dinner surrounded by my family

Today we enjoyed our meal outside under the pergola

We had grilled teriyaki chicken breast, fresh melon salad, fresh corn on the cob and grilled zucchini/mushroom/onions...

Oh so very tasty

We topped it all off with these scrumptious mango frozen delights from Trader Joe's

Dryer Lint

Do you clean the lint catcher

Everytime you put a load into the dryer?

My mother taught me to do this when I was young

(she had a friend whose dryer caught fire from accumulated lint)

So I am diligent

This last load of rags

Made the lint catcher overflow

Always remember: Before cramming clothes in the dryer

If I was a cat lounging in the middle of a path in my garden

And I looked upward towards the sky

This is what I would see

Some days I wish I was a cat

Being lazy in my garden

I planted a lot of gladiolus bulbs this spring

First time EVER

Originally wanted them to bloom for the "wedding"

Guess I didn't time that one right

But they are blooming now

I am not bashful to say

I am proud of these beauts!
