Happy Halloween

I didn't get a chance to decorated my home this year
so I'd like to show you what greets you when you visit  my hip sister's house.

We celebrated Halloween last weekend at Mr. and Mrs. Shoe's annual Halloween Party

Check out the costumes...

Refurbished Stool

Bought this sturdy well worn vintage stool at an estate sale a couple of months ago.

Wahlah...with a little scrubbing and a spray can of paint (my signature color),
I've added a little zing to it.

I now have a place to sit when we eat at the island.

Hike Attack

Do you recall several months ago where I almost stepped on a rattlesnake lounging on the side of the trail?
Surely that would have soured my day.

Last week on my Saturday morning hike with Martha, I was attacked by a swarm of hornets/wasps/killer bees (not sure what they were). I was bit three times and am still recovering from my puffy red and swollen wounds.

Today it was a hairy black widow.  It is October after all and Halloween is just around the corner.  Whoa...another close call.

We live in dangerous times.

Let There Be Light

For the past 26 years, my 400 square foot (roughly) garage was illuminated
by one single solitary  60 watt light bulb. Pathetic.

Many a time I stumbled, crashed, and fumbled my way through that dark cavernous  garage.
No wonder I never liked going out there.

Not anymore!! Thanks to my dad, my knight in shining armor, along with the help of DZ and Matt.  They  have worked their magic stringing wire, hanging fluorescent light strips...

Garage lights

AND hanging two very cool vintage gas station/barn lights which I purchased on eBay with the help of my tech savy, king of the deal, nephew named Dan.

One hangs  over the workbench and the other one over the door going out to my garden.

Don't you just love how the light glows out the sides of the shade?

Never thought I'd find so much joy in my garage.

Now days you can find me standing at the work bench organizing and sorting nails, screws, nuts and bolts, electrical and plumbing supplies.

I'll show you a pic once it is all complete.

Harvesting Grapes

You don't have to go up to Napa for harvest time...it is happening right here in Los Altos!

Saw this truck filled with freshly harvested grapes  parked in front of a house with its very own vineyard.

Not sure if the grapes are headed to fermenting inside a bottle or sitting in a bowl on the kitchen table.

Either way, they look delicious....

I do admit I was tempted to take off my shoes and start squishing the purple globes between my toes.
